Do you have a turbo DSM with a leaky or sticking throttle plate? Are you hearing a large amount of air rushing through the throttle body when you use our leak tester? You may have worn-out throttle shaft seals. The seals keep the throttle plate shaft centered and positioned in the throttle body. When they wear out, they can cause leaks, sticking, and jamming of the throttle plate.
Set of two seals fits all turbo DSM 91-99. (Sorry, doesn't fit 90 models)
In order to replace the throttle shaft seals, you must remove both throttle body flapper bolts, throttle plate, throttle position sensor side nut and spring load nut. Once these are all removed, the shaft will come out. We recommend using a small flat head screwdriver or a pick to remove the factory throttle shaft seal. Do NOT use excessive force as it can cause damage to the casting and premature leak will occur.
Before installing the new seals, ensure the surface area is clean. Center the new seal to the throttle body and use a mallet for installation. Lightly tap in the throttle seal until it seats flush. Due to the tight fitment, an alternative method would be installing the seal upside down, removing it and reinstalling the shaft seal the correct way (metal side on top). When properly seated, the seals have been tested to hold over 45 PSI.
