High horsepower engines need to be fed the proper amount of both fuel and air to keep the engine happy. The need for more air flow can mean the stock MAF sensor can get maxed out. In situations where the engine is making 320 Wheel HP or more, the factory MAF sensor will become maxed out! This limits the amount of Horsepower your ECU can be tuned for. PERRIN™ has devised a way to literally sneak additional airflow around the MAF to increase resolution in timing and fuel maps on your tuned ECU. Combined with the wisdom of a proper tuning guru you can add tremendous horsepower and torque. Available with red, blue or black silicone tubing. Kit includes mounting hardware and instructions. See PERRIN™ for additional details. NOTE: Requires aftermarket ECU Tuning. See compatibility note for additional details, or contact Perrin prior to ordering. Thank you!
Also available is a new cold air extension add-on for those wishing to extract every last bit of power from an intake system. Each Intake System includes T-bolt clamps, and super tuf wrinkle red or black powder coating, silicone coupler, a PERRIN Performance foam air filter, MAF sensor housing and mounting hardware.
NOTE: Contact your tuner or our Tech Dept prior to ordering. This part can cause detrimental performance and potential engine damage if used improperly.
Allows further tuning beyond previous pegged MAF signals.
Great for cars with larger than stock injectors and turbos making 50 more HP than stock.
Perfect for cars producing in excess of 320 Wheel HP
TUNERS SECTION
The BigMAF is meant for cars running more than 320 WHP or cars that make enough power to outflow the stock intake system. This happens mainly on 2.5L Turbo motors when a bigger turbo is installed.
The BigMAF is designed to do two things:
1. Allow the ECU to read more airflow than the stock intake system. This allows the ECU to be tuned for Wheel HP ratings up to 500WHP on up. This allows for more resolution in the fuel and timing mapping so the engine can be safely tuned.
2. The BigMAF offsets 800cc fuel injectors. The size of the BigMAF housing was designed around this larger size to make for easier tuning injectors. This means that when tuning the ECU, the fuel injector size will stay about the same as stock which makes for easier tuning. This also makes some of the other internal parameters in the ECU work better so the car runs smoother.
One thing people do wrong when starting with tuning the BigMAF is going and changing the injector size to 800cc then increaseing the MAF scaling to make up for the large size. The correct way is to leave the scaling and injector size alone, then adjust the injector size slightly to get the idle and light throttle fuel corrections close. From there tuning of the MAF curve can be done, but will be very minor changes. That should be enought to get you close on your tune.
